Kitchen and room decorating ideas.?

We need to do Something with our kitchen and dinning area. We haven't really done anything with it since we moved in. Its pretty much empty except the things we need to cook and some boxes still stacked where the table should be :( We don't have a table yet. But we're thinking of buying this set http://www.kmart.com/shc/s/p_10151_10104_021C123458150000B?vName=For+the+Home&cName=Furniture+%26+Storage Originally i was wanting a set exactly like this but with white and a lighter wood on top, but haven't been able to find it anywhere. I like the black set but, i think it adds more to think about when decorating and picking colors.. I don't want the kitchen to seem too dark. Right now the cabinets and trim in the kitchen are kinda dark wood. but my boyfriend said he doesn't care if we paint the cabinets since they will need to be replaced at some point (not now but maybe next year or the year after) But hes not sure if we should paint the trim and doors. (cont.) Our counter tops are a light grey/blue laminate, the floors are sorta white/grey colored laminate tiles, which we might replace sometime also, but not for awhile. I really need some suggestions or ideas.. Pictures would be really helpful, or some good websites to look at. Thanks!

  4. There's a greally great show on HGTV called "Spice Up My Kitchen" that has heaps of great ideas: http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/shows_hsumk/ If you drill down to the individual episode, they show some great before & after photos, with a description about what they changed: Check out some of these after shots for ideas: http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/dc_design_kitchen/article/0,1793,HGTV_3375_5549459_02,00.html http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/dc_design_kitchen/article/0,1793,HGTV_3375_5631472_02,00.html http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/dc_design_kitchen/article/0,1793,HGTV_3375_5571479_02,00.html I recommend you should play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find something that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours: http://sherlink.sherwin.com/swapp/color_visualizer/index.jsp I think an orange like "outgoing orange" (# 6641) would be pretty in the kitchen.
