Kitchen floor cold? cost effective solution.?
the reason my kitchen floor is so cold is that I have a large crawl space that is under the kitchen. I was thinking about vapor barrier maybe between support and rafter beams. I am open to any and all suggestions. The crawl space is also in basement and my kitchen is at ground level. looking for solution that is cost effective. (i.e. not heating the crawl space.)

- Wear socks. That's cheap.
- This is a new and effective way of solving that problem I'm actually faced with the same problem and it seems to be the best way I have found yet.
- lord you be careful not to set the house on fire
- I know that carpets in a kitchen are not really seen very often, but a good stain resistant carpet with an underlay would be a great help, get a carpet like the one's used on hotel entrances, if they take that kind of wear they will be OK in a kitchen.
- Insulate it. Get into the "Pink"
- Unless you want to go with radiant heat for the kitchen floor, then I would suggest insulating the floor joists in the crawlspace-not just under the kitchen, but the entire floor as well.
- Area rugs
