B Q kitchen delivery nightmare?

Hi We have oredered a kitchen from BQ. We knew in oct that we will receive it in Jan 2008. We booked our plasterer, electrician, plumber, tiler, kitchen fitter. All sounded good. The kitchen was meant to be delivered yesterday, by BQ. Until yesterday, all went ok- they called us, they left us an automatic message to confirm delivery, briliant! But the kitchen did not arrive. The reason? No paper work!!!! Next delivery date, 3 weeks from now!! I called Cust Serv an told them - with tears in my eyes- that this was unacceptable, they promissed us the kitchen, we planned our life around this - tradesemen, work, hospital appointmens, holidays, etc. They are set to ruin everything! They insisted it was nothing they could do and that's that! Shall i write a letter of complain? What shall i demand? Money back? Kitchen fitted for free? Vouchers?? What can i expect from the complaint? I am still distressed and hate the mess that is right now in my home! I hate it!!

  1. BBC Watchdog have done an article on B&Q Kitchens I think http://www.guardian.co.uk/money/2006/nov/11/homeimprovements.moneysupplement
  2. I would demand some sort of compensation. It's not your fault that they can't get their act together.
  3. tell b&q to stuff their kitchen and buy howdens...
  4. Also had bad experience with B&Q, which I eventually won but it was hard work! Their customer service department is trained to make you think it is all your own fault and fob you off. In your case (due to timing) I think then only thing you can do is sit on the phone and keep demanding to go higher and higher. Make yourself as objectionable as possible and eventually you get passed "upstairs" to someone who will sort it out. You will also find they shuttle you between Head Offie and your local store, each blaming the other to make you give up! As soon as someone answers the phone ask for their name so if they cut you off you can report them. If you can afford the time go to store you ordered from, ask for the Manager and make his life hell by refusing to leave until it is sorted out. Don't let them try and move you to an office (out of sight of the other customers) but stay visible to embarass them in front of potential customers. If you don't get anywhere stand in front of their help desks in the kitchen section and then phone Head office customer services while you walk around the desks so all customers can hear! Time is not on your side! You need to really set to and inflict yourself on them until you get results. Best of luck - it can be done but you will be drained by it all and then realise why so many people will not deal with B&Q anymore!
  5. contact bbc watchdog i know this does not do much in the short term but if you then phone them back and them what you have done they might just get off there fat arses and do some thing for you hope it all goes well ps i fit kitchens for magnets you should have used us
