remodeling kitchen?
Hi, I bought an old house that has brick in the kitchen, I want to keep the brick, it has been painted white. I am remodeling the house in a cabin style. I would love suggestions on how to redo the bricks. I almost forgot on a budget as well. Thanks!

- I would think painting it back to look like brick. Maybe painting it a red and then try and painting the grout black and/or gray. Since you are making it look a cabin then maybe painting the bricks a beige color. I love Bassett Hall Gold from Porter paints or Island sand from Ralph Lauren. Then painting the grout an ivory color. Whatever color you decide on the bricks I would get one that is bright and then one that is muted (ex. Fire engine red, and Deep Red) Paint the brick with the Fire Engine red first, then go back over and sponge the deep red over that. You could even go a step further and VERY LIGHTLY sponge a gray over the deep red to give it an 'old' look. When you do the grout I would use a small paint brush and just 'tap' it in the grout. Try not to stroke the brush over it because you want it to look authentic. Paint is cheap and depending on how much brick there is you might not need all that much. If you use a roler go with a 3/4 inch think one. they are the best, and just buy the 50 cent paint brushes. Sounds like lots of fun!!
