How do I use 2 tones for the bedrooms and living room?

I have cornices on the ceiling and baseboards. But I also put cornices in the middle of the walls of the bedrooms and the living room. I want to have 2 toned walls for the small rooms but im clueless on how to design or apply it.

  1. Not sure what you mean exactly by "two-toned" rooms, but to get two colors, one cool way to do it is with vertical striping. Mask off part of the walls, vertically, with painter's masking tape - semi-tacky. Paint one color (two coats if necessary). Let it dry. Then tape over the freshly painted part and paint the other part with the other color you want. It's a very cool effect - especially if you make the "stripes" different widths around the room. Good luck!
  2. A cornice is placed over a window to cover the top of draperies, so I'm not sure what you mean about ceilings and baseboards. I'm not sure what you mean about 2 toned walls either. As someone has suggested, you could stripe the walls. Get the same color paint, but one gallon would be a flat paint and the other should be a satin paint. Alternate the stripes for a very classical ,sophisticated look. Hope this is what you were looking for.
