How Do I match Wall Paint to A Black and White Decor!?!?!?
I live in a town house, and have a long narrow living room/dining room/kitchen, that all run into one another. My living room decor is black furniture, with white tables, and black and white printed curtains and lamps, my dining table is very dark black brown, and my counter top is purple in my kitchen (gonna get a new one though)and my cupboards are white, with a white tile backsplash.. i also have a down satirwell and up stairwell that come into this same area. I need colors that wil break up the rooms but will all go together. I have 4 canvas paintings that are my inspiration. the have red, dark blue, light gray, and a lead color gray. I was thinkig my kitchen a nive olive green( i have very little wall space) and the longest wall a nice toned down red, and as for the rest a creamy white!! any other color suggestions????HELP I HATE having such a small area....

- Put the darkest color in the rooms with the most light. Do not paint the stairwells a dark color. Then choose ONE color as your accent color, either green or red and paint one area a dark shade of that color and another area a light tone of that SAME color. Some of the most beautiful rooms I have seen have had four walls of four different shades and tones of the same color. In a small space you do not want a lot of different colors. You already have paintings to add colors to each room. If you want to pick up more colors, add them as accent colors in pillows and curtains, but not on the walls.
- I'm not a fan of missing White's with off whites in the way you mentioned..Maybe you could do a white paint with a off white glaze on top.. My first thought was to work with the purple counter top..when will it be replaced? If not for a while go with a nice plum or rich purple. I think it would make a nice contrast with the black and white.
