What should I put in the green bowl on my dining room table?

I love the spring green color... it's not grass-green.... more like the lighter green from the crayon box. It's not pastel either... it's still sort of bold and bright. Anyway, My dining room table is deep dark wood, espresso kinda, and I have an ivory table runner with a REALLY cute spring-green bamboo bowl in the middle of the table runner. I'm stuck; now I don't know what to fill the bowl with!? I know I could always do the old pebbles-n-candles bit... but what COLORS of candles? I really am pretty open with any theme of colors but I am NOT color-coordinated-decor- saavy. As long as it looks cute with my green bowl! Any help or new ideas would be much appreciated! yay! lemons it is! i never thought of that??! see, i need to read some home decor magazines. haha. ok, thanks for all the help everyone! :)

  1. Lemons!!!
  2. try pier 1, they have some really neat decorative balls you might be able to fill the bowl up with. if you really want candles, try a color that best matches the table runner.
  3. Fruit. Bananas, Lemons, and oranges look perfect in nearly any bowl =]
  4. I'd suggest a smoothe, creamy froth shaded candle. I'd get a thick, tallish one, then a slightly shorter one sort of next to it, then a shortest one in mid-front. But if you'd really like to try something a little different, green and blue always go well together, so you might also try a lighter shade of blue candles. But I'd strongly suggest the creamy ones.
  5. I thought lemons too... If you go with the candle idea, maybe a light purple color, like lilac or lavender?
  6. I too have a green bowl on the table. I fill it with fruit; apples of different varieties and colors, bananas, oranges. It's colorful and always changing with the desires of the family.
  7. How about putting some fresh sunny yellow lemons in it? Yellow would give it a happy bright look and match your green with dark wood.
  8. you could fill it with water and put white tealight candles in it. or other light colored candles in it. or red tea light candles! that will give it a great look! or you could fill it with decorative balls.
  9. Everyone does the whole fruit thing and I think you are looking for something new and different. It depends on the other aspects of you dinning area not just what is on the table itself. Tell me about the whole area of the room with the table in it and what kind of person you are and I will have some answers for you. For some reason people think because they see everyone else using those things that they have to be followers.Take the person you are and start a new trend for everyone to follow.
  10. Everything that i saw in Meryll Str.'s bowl in "Bridges Of Madison County".
  11. I like red and green together so i would go with raspberry color or a red that goes with your shade of green.
  12. I see you've chosen lemons but not yet closed the question. Think about lemons with kiwi, lime, wrapped chocolate, sample bags of coffee and cinnamon sticks.
  13. Lots and lots of CANDY... Yummy!!!
