Kitchen remodeling? Need great websites redoing my kitchen need ideas or perhaps one of those 3d softwear product that you can put together your kitchen and find out where appliances and stuff will fit. all suggestions welcome.
Remodeling a kitchen - how long did it take, how much did it cost? My husband and I want to remodel our kitchen and would like to plan for the time and costs. How long did your kitchen remodel take and were there unexpected expenses you hadn't counted for that came up? Were you happy with the outcome of the kitchen based on what you spent?
Kitchen remodeling or decorating? My husband and I are moving into our first house and there are some things I'd like to do. Eventually I'd like to remodel the entire kitchen, but right now, all I want to do is take off the current wallpaper (on drywall), and repaint. The kitchen has a sliding glass door that opens to our deck, so there will be quite a bit of light. What colors would you recommend? Keep in mind I'd eventually like to have granite counter tops (darker color, maybe black), and tile floors. I'm not into really bold colors, but right now the only thing I can think of was a pale yellow.... but I don't know how that would work with future work, AND the kitchen will be connected to a light blue living room. Help! Color coordination is not my thing when it comes to painting.
Should I spend the time and money on remodeling the kitchen? I just bought my first little 2/1 starter condo. The place is pretty nice and spacious for 868 SqFt. Its in a great neighborhood. The living room is nice and the bathroom is descen but the kitchen is like a cave from hell. The kitchen is a boxed in 10x10 slum, pretty much the same as it was the day they completed it in 1987. Orange/yellow linoleum, old dark cabinets, beat up appliances and one dim light in the center. I have the money to put into remodeling the kitchen to be quite nice. New lighting, maple cabinets, granite countertops, stone floors and stainless steel appliances. Here in NorCal kitchens get the money on a resell. The dilemma is, do I want to sink that kind of money and effort into a place that will scare away "starter home buyers" or do I want to go for it and appeal to the higher end bachelor/bachelorette? Any suggestions? I do plan on living in it for about 5 years to build some nice equity. I would like to live with the nicer kitchen, but I would be content with a less extravagant kitchen that would cost thousands less. Good answers so far...I was thinking about the fact that the kitchens in the other unit's for sale in the complex are updated, somewhat, but are still 10 years old and not impressive. That’s why I picked mine, besides the best location in the complex; it had the oldest kitchen with the lowest asking price. I wasn't sure if I wanted to go "all out” on the remodel or hold back and just do a "nice" remodel. I am definitely doing more than just some painting on cabinets and a tile backsplash.
What are some good tips, for remodeling a kitchen??? I am going to try and help my mother remodel the house. She has decided since we use the kitchen the most, to start in it first. My mother and I have never really done any remodeling before, so I need some tips, like what to do first, and things like that. I know she wants to get a new sink, and counter tops, along with painting the walls. I am looking for any ideas, websites, and tips from experience. Please help!!!!
Has anyone used Home Depot for kitchen remodeling? I am in the process of updating my kitchen by replacing the cabinets and countertops. I want granite counter tops and Thomasville cabinets. Has anyone used Home Depot for this project in Rochester Hills, Michigan?
kitchen remodeling ideas? We want to remodel our kitchen. Is there a site to send pics to to get someone's opinion and ideas? We will be doing this project ourselves.
Remodeling Kitchen and Bathrooms, please help? I am thinking to remodel my kitchen and 2 bathrooms and also thinking to redecorate my house. Please tell me any ideas or personal experience about those projects. Do you hire indepentent contractors for each project or a general contractor to oversee the whole project? How did you find them. Word of mouth or ads? How about the cost? I have no idea how much something like this will cost. End result: Do you love it? Hate it? What do you wish had done differently? Any help is appreciated as I have never done a remodeling project before
When remodeling kitchen, how much can an addition cost? We have a standard 9X10 L-shaped kitchen. It's not small but it's not conducive to entertaining as most of our parties end up being kitchen parties. We cannot tear down any interior walls because of the design of the house and other connecting rooms. I was thinking of enlarging the square footage by adding outwards. I understand additions cost a lot, but what is the ballpark figure? I am looking to extend only one wall towards the backyard. It has 4 windows. Vinyl siding. I'm in the Southeast.
remodeling a kitchen? I am going to get my kitchen remodeled where do you start? Does a contractor have to come first? If so then what any help would be great. And Thanks
A kitchen cabinet remodeling question? We are trying to have a good look without the big bucks and wanted recess lights but want to know also if it's possible to put (what type of lighting) right on top of new kitchen cabinets that we are going to install ourselves? Has anyone tryed other type of lighting on top of their cabinets and were you happy with the results?
I need help with remodeling a small kitchen? I have a kitchen that is 7' 6" X 14'. I need a online program that will help me with remodeling plans, I can copy off and use. Thanks a load. IKEA has worked just like I was looking for.
Remodeling kitchen and changing it to have an island. Counter, backsplash, flooring: How to coordinate? Read.. My kitchen has an odd floorplan. It is open to a sitting room and has an eat-in area, but it has a half wall and strange line dividing carpet and tile. I'm doing away with the eat-in area and adding a very large island. I am doing granite countertops that continue to become the backsplash. I will do a different kind of granite on the floor, or maybe ceramic tile. My question is: Should I match the huge island with the floor or with the counter & backsplash? I'm worried the island, counter and backsplash all the same will be overkill. Opinions? The sitting room will have carpet. Wood flooring is not an option, it is what I am removing.
What is the sequence when remodeling a kitchen? My kitchen is 25 years old. If I can only replace one thing per month, should I begin with an energy star refrigerator? Do you replace the floor before or after the refrigerator? Would the dishwasher be the next appliance in order of energy savings? Or the lighting? And then the stove? Would the cabinet work be done before or after the lighting? Should I prioritize aquiring an energy efficient washer & dryer? My intent is to save energy and improve safety (the stove) and have peace of mind about the appearance of the kitchen. Thank you all for your answers. Earthwoman, thanks for mentioning possible wiring upgrade and drain replacement. Since this will be a LOW budget project, I like the idea of asking the store to help with a plan, too. Each of you have helped me.
We are remodeling our kitchen and I need your opinion.Should we get rid of our back door? We are in need of more cabinet space in our some what small kitchen. We are gonna knock out one wall and open the kitchen to what will be a family room. We will also turn a 5.5 foot wide window, in the family room, into a patio door that will lead out to a soon to be deck. We have a kitchen door that is now 3.5 feet adjacent to where said patio door will be in 6 months. We have been getting different opinions on our kitchen back door. some people say yeah remove it for more cabinets. Some say no keep if for emergency exit. My question is if we should keep the door even though we will have another set of doors 3.5 feet away in the family room on the same wall. what do you think. Please try to explain your answer. your opinion will help me decide. Thanks.
Am I wrong for remodeling my kitchen and not attending a friends destination wedding? My friend had planned a destination wedding that I was supposed to attend. However, I lost my job, my parents and a few other family members in the last few months. She was well aware that I would not be attending. About a month ago, my husband decided to remodel our kitchen himself(we paid for no labor) my friend is now mad that I didn't use that money to attend her destination wedding. At which the whole kitchen cost me less than the trip would have. Am I wrong????
Bathroom and Kitchen remodeling? I have a kitchen that is 13' by 7', and a bathroom that is 5' by 7'. For the bathroom, I am looking to reglaze the tub, retile the walls and floors, new sink, toilet, and new cabinet. For the kitchen, I'm thinking of refacing the cabinets, getting rid of some brick on the walls (?), and retile the floors. The flooring in both rooms will probably be laminate. Any rough idea as to how much this could cost? I don't plan to go overboard by getting the most expensive items, as a budget comes into play here.
When remodeling a kitchen, should you tile under the cabinets and appliances? I am tearing out all of the cabinets and removing all of the appliances from the room regardless. I have seen people set the cabinets on the subfloor and tile up to them as well as tile underneath before setting the cabinets. Same with appliances. Which is the proper way, assuming the room is completely cleared out to start with. I do understand the added cost of tiling the entire floor under cabinets and appliances, however I am asking for the correct way, not necessiarly the most cost effective way. Thanks.
kitchen remodeling: which comes first? doing a kitchen remodel and need to add a tile border (to the existing tile floor) along the cabinet.. best to put the cabinets in first and then add border or the reverse?
kitchen...............? did you get your kitchen a) supply and fit? b)did you pay before or after? c)what was the name of supplier? your response would be much appreciated as i am launching my own company thanks U.K.Only
Legal Kitchen or Not..? I have a legal commercial kitchen with all the commercial kitchen equipment (commercial refrigerator, ovens the works), store room, entertaining area with all the enmities separate from the living area (30' x 40' outside building) I built this kitchen to bake and sell cakes and other goods from home. Now that we are planning to sell our house for a custom built home with another commercial kitchen separate from the living area. I was want to know if you where going to buy a home would you put an offer on a home like this. If I keep the commercial kitchen and not turn it back into a garage then all the equipment will go with the sale. I am contemplating changing this back into a 3 car garage. Just needing a general public’s opinion. To complete this kitchen it cost around 30 grand, wanted to know if I would get my money back if I decided to keep it a commercial kitchen or turn it back into a garage. Thanks for all your help. Oh yea I forgot to mention that a 2 car garage already exists connected to the home, and a wood working shop is in the back part of the building as well. On one acre of land, so parking is not an issue.
remodeling kitchen? Hi, I bought an old house that has brick in the kitchen, I want to keep the brick, it has been painted white. I am remodeling the house in a cabin style. I would love suggestions on how to redo the bricks. I almost forgot on a budget as well. Thanks!
Kitchen cabinets !!! please advice? I wanted to know what color kitchen cabinets is adviisable for a medium sized kitchen in which a lot of greasy food will be cooked DAILY. The cabinets the builder is providing are 42 inches long and there are a lot of them in the kitchen. The kitchen has one window and a walk out door( to the back yard). I do not want the to get a dark feeling in the kitchen with very darl colors and I also hate white. Thanks.
kitchen ceiling paint matching problem...does celings in kitchens usually get darker over time?? I'm trying to paint one side of the kitchen ceiling due to a grease fire mishap.. I have a can of the original paint that was used to paint the ceiling when it was new. Now when I use this same paint to cover up an area of the ceiling in the kitchen that got a bit toasted due to the grease fire smoke, the painted area now looks so much whiter than the rest of the kitchen ceiling.. could it be that the rest of the kitchen ceiling that I didn't paint over got naturally darker over time due to it being exposed to smoke and fumes of regular cooking throughout the three years i've lived there? How can I find a paint to match this weathered ceiling then? Hope this makes sense.
advice on kitchen cabinets? We have a small (long and narrow) area, with the family area on one end, and the kitchen on the other. The family area has a cherry entertainment unit built into the wall. On the other end, our kitchen cabinets are standard oak. The floor is light beech Pergo. Walls are off-white. Do we: - leave the kitchen cabinets as is, and put some decorative elements (e.g. vases or flowers) in "cherry" colors to somehow balance with the big block of cherry wood on the other side of the room? - change the kitchen cabinets to match the cherry entertainment unit (our kitchen is small with one window -- cherry might be too dark and make the space seem smaller?) - change the kitchen cabinets to match the light beech floor? - paint the kitchen cabinets to white, light yellow, something close to the cherry, or some other color? - paint the walls? - other suggestions?
Is my kitchen haunted???? i had 2 experiences in my kitchen in the past year. Most recently I was in the bathroom with the door open standing at the sink. I was close to the kitchen so i know what happened was in the kitchen. I heard a noise that sounded like a piece of glass was chipped off something. I immediately went into the kitchen and saw that I had put a piece of twisted metal on the counter top. I went to pick it up and drop it. it sounded exactly like what i heard from the bathroom. there was no way the metal could have moved by itself. Another time, my friend and i were in the kitchen and she thought she saw a figure walk across the floor out of the corner of her eye. Both of these experiences were in the same corner of my kitchen. I have had one relative die in the house but i believe she has moved on from Earth already. Also, we remodeled our kitchen and I have heard that ghosts get angry when you remodel. so i dont know what is happening but if anyone has had similar experiences please let me know
B Q kitchen delivery nightmare? Hi We have oredered a kitchen from BQ. We knew in oct that we will receive it in Jan 2008. We booked our plasterer, electrician, plumber, tiler, kitchen fitter. All sounded good. The kitchen was meant to be delivered yesterday, by BQ. Until yesterday, all went ok- they called us, they left us an automatic message to confirm delivery, briliant! But the kitchen did not arrive. The reason? No paper work!!!! Next delivery date, 3 weeks from now!! I called Cust Serv an told them - with tears in my eyes- that this was unacceptable, they promissed us the kitchen, we planned our life around this - tradesemen, work, hospital appointmens, holidays, etc. They are set to ruin everything! They insisted it was nothing they could do and that's that! Shall i write a letter of complain? What shall i demand? Money back? Kitchen fitted for free? Vouchers?? What can i expect from the complaint? I am still distressed and hate the mess that is right now in my home! I hate it!!
No garden;tiny kitchen: Should I convert 6.4m by 3.1m double reception into a kitchen diner+single reception? Hope u can picture this without floor plan: Narrow Victorian terraced house. 3 floors, 4 double bedrms, 2 bathrm. Grd floor: Double recep(6.4x3m +1.2m bay window infront) and small separate kitchen(2.4x2.6m). Smal front gardn (4.6m x 5m) and almost nothing to call a garden at the back (L shaped space appx 2m wide).Thought about extending into this but it doesn't get us much extra space and there r problems with planning. Existing kitchen is at the end of a narrow corridor which runs down right hand side of the double reception. This kitchen is bizarrely built *around* the far right hand corner of the double reception. The corner of the living room encroaches on the kitchen space. I guess that the corner is structurally important and knocking thru to the living room would leave an odd diagonal between the living room and kitchen. Should we convert the dble reception into a kitchen diner+leave old K as utility? Will the loss of a reception reduce prop.value? Help!!!!!!!!!!
Suggestions for kitchen cabinets (color and style). ??? In the stages of designing the kitchen for our new home. It is a galley style kitchen. The dining area extends past the kitchen area and I don't want to put any type of bar for eating on the ends of the cabinets. I feel this will only close the area. Since the kitchen/eating and greatroom are an open floor plan, I will be using hardwood through this entire area. I am leaning toward the french cream with a glaze. It will be a small kitchen. So my cabinets will have to be designed to utilize space very efficiently. I will not be able have many upper wall cabinets, and I would like to use glass doors on a few doors to "dress-up" the look. If you can suggest a website to design a kitchen, that would be great. (not the hgtv one, it doesn't help me) Countertop colors??? I will probably use a granite.
Kitchen Decor? I just remodeled my kitchen and now have to re-decroate. I now have a 1foot space or so from the top of the cabinets to the ceiling. My kitchen USED to have all vegetables and antiques. My kitchen now has blue, beige, cream, brown flooring (vinyl - looks like tile) with oak cabinets, brown, cream swirl mixed countertops that is called sandstone, beige wall tile with a off white pain for trim and a very light brown almost beige paint for the walls. The light above the sink is now a tiffany stained glass with greens, browns and beige. The regular light is the exact same as the other light just bigger. I rather not cram the top of my cabinets with tons of items to keep it simple and clean but what can I put up there that is just a couple things that looks nice to accent the kitchen and fill the empty space?
Kitchen Assistant? I am employed as a part time kitchen assistant. I undertook a 1 year course in Food Safety & Preparation last year in college, and this my first job related to the field in which I want to go into , which is catering. However, I am only getting paid the minimum wage £5.75 per hour. Is that because this is my first job and hopefully my wages would increase with experience, or are kitchen assistants generally not well paid? I have also noticed that most kitchen assistant jobs are only part time. Why is that? Also, what would be the natural progression from being a kitchen assistant? Would I have to take further courses at college? Would there be a significant increase in salary?
kitchen and bath design help? My husband and I purchased our home last summer. I love the home and location but hate the kitchen and bath. Our home was built in 1957 and I have hardwood floors throughout the house. When we get more settled financially, we plan to remodel both. We have narrowed it down to the following designs. We are not sure which color the kitchen will be painted but the bath will be paint either a sage green or a creamy yellow color. Choose which kitchen & bath you like best. Wet kitchen, dry kitchen question? First let me explain by saying that I have only been in Malaysia for 2 months and have recently moved into my new house which has a wet kitchen and a dry kitchen. Where I'm from this is not common so I was wondering what items do you store in which kitchen? My hot water supply, and refrigerator are in the dry kitchen. Which one do you store your food? Which one do you store your dishes and pots? I'm stumped on what to do so let me know how yours is organized and if you don't have an idea or an honest answer please don't respond. I can do without being called dumb, or silly or any other responses you clever ones out there come up with. Thanks in advance. Just a footnote, I have sinks in both kitchens,
Kitchen Colors? I need help! I am at a loss! My kitchen currently is plain white (blah!). Anyways, I really would like to spruce up my kitchen with some color, but have no idea where to even start, and what color to even start with. My kitchen has white cabinets with silver handles The kitchen surface is gray with black speckles, and my appliances are stainless steel and black and white. My floor, of course is white! The room is also very small. Any color suggestions or helpful hints for choosing a color? Thank you!

Hi looking for a website with a "virtual kitchen" (of sorts) where you can view a picture of kitchen and change the colour of the benchtops and cabinets and change the colour of the glass splashbacks. Or some pics with kitchens iwth black cabinets and white benchtops and different coloured glass splashbacks. (need to find out what will be best for my kitchen which as black cabinets and white benchtops).
Kitchen Nightmares the TV show!!!? so i just started watching Kitchen Nightmares on FOX online and I saw some of the most messed up stuff I have ever seen when it comes to restaurant kitchens, he will go in there and find so much of the food moldy and the kitchen just so unclean that it's out of this world... and he always prays before he eats there food "god please don't kill me with food poison" and I understand how he is I have gotten sick from restaurants before... How many restaurant kitchens are like those? do most keep them pretty clean? it just seems like family owned restaurants are like this.
Kitchen design-help? I am remodeling my kitchen. What happens is that the kitchen and dining room are an only lineal piece and I don't have any the original floor tiles. I need to change the kitchen tile but I would like an idea on how to make it look good, like separate from the other room. I was thinking in borders or diamond. I'm not sure on what to do or the colors. The other tiles are terracota and the kitchen cabinets are mahogany. If I could see a picture maybe on the web of one idea!!
Kitchen painting question? Before we started kitchen renovation, I found an inspiration picture - a Tuscan farm scene with yellow-orange fields, dark greens trees, and red roofs and the poppies. We have tiles w/ shades of yellow, tan, and rust and maple "spice" cabinets. The appliances are stainless steel w/ black. The countertops will be Juniperano St. Cecelia granite, which has a light base, with black, yellows, oranges, and some red flecks in it. The sink is black granite and the fixtures are brushed nickel. I took the color of the picture mat (Warm Muffin from Behr) and we painted that on the ceiling in the kitchen. The kitchen walls will be faux Italian plaster (not a lot of wall showing due to cabinets, tile backsplash, and banquette seating). The original plan was to pick up the red from the painting and granite by painting the kitchen walls a darker red color (similar to Behr's Ruby Ring). I need to paint the walls, but I'm starting to get scared. Will the red be too dark/bold? If so, what to do?
kitchen for my almost 2 year old son? My son will be 2 in february and i am not sure which play kitchen to get him...I was thinking either the fisher price grow with me kitchen or little tykes play smarter kitchen..or if you have any other suggestions for a kitchen that worked for you child would be great I like the play kitchens that makes sounds.
hallway / kitchen flooring question? as you walk into the house, there is the foyer then a hallway into the kitchen. does the flooring in the foyer need to match the flooring in the kitchen? we've been told that it's best not to "break" the flooring in the hallway in order to have a different flooring the in the kitchen. we wanted to install laminate floors throughout the downstairs, except for the kitchen. but you can see the kitchen down the hallway when you walk into the front door. will this look bad? i mean laminate as in laminate wood / pergo
The kitchen side has red counter top, white cabinets and sylver stove.? The fridge is black and all the kitchen appliances too, half of the wall from the ceiling to the floor has green tiles all around, the size of the combo kitchen/dinning room is 24x13 i will like to paint red but what do you think, should i paint all, or the kitchen side one color and the dinning room another color. Which one colors will look good with all the colors that the kitchen already have. Thanks
Designer suggests opening kitchen to formal living room. Afraid it will look weird.? I live in a small, 1 story house with no space to build out or up. A kitchen designer suggested opening the kitchen to the living room by creating an island with a cooktop and island fan above then placing stools facing the cooktop. I'm afraid this will look odd, like I'm running a Benihana's restaurant out of my house. When people sit on our living room sofa, their view, I guess, will include a ventilation fan. The house does not lend itself to rearranging rooms. The living room is the first room you see when you come into the house. The kitchen is sqeezed in off to the left. Behind the kitchen is our dining room. I have never seen a picture of a remodel where the kitchen opens to the living room, only where the kitchen opens to the dining room. In your opinion, would going with such a design make our house look ugly? Thank you.

mdf kitchen cupboard doors... need help!!!? my kitchen cupboard doors made of mdf, they were made by my brother some years ago, i waxed them when i had them and they looked really good.... but now they look like they need a lift! i want to give them a make over... has anyone got any suggestions as to what type of paint to use or any ideas for my tired old kitchen doors?
Replacing kitchen mixer taps? I have broken my kitchen mixer tap and need to replace it. I had a quick look at the underneath of it last night and I’m a little stuck how to actually get it off the sink. As it is a mixer tap it has the cold and hot feeds straight into the tap. I have replaced basin taps before where they have a treaded spindle through the basin hole and a locking nut to secure the tap to the basin; however my kitchen tap does not has this. All I can see from underneath the sink is the twp pipes going up into the tap and nothing that is securing the actual tap to the kitchen sink. How are kitchen tap secures to the sink and I can not see how to remove the tap to replace it. Its almost as its secured from the top some how and I will need to dismantle the tap to get at the fixings. Any ideas?
Good Kitchen For 3 Yr Old? Her birthday is coming up next month and anytime we go to the children's museum she runs straight towards the kitchen area and mocks cooking and cleaning. She also spends most of her day at daycare in the kitchen area making stuff for the other kids. My question is does anyone know a good kitchen set to get? I saw the Dora Talking Kitchen, but it seemed to be very small to me. Any ideas?

Although you'll find our house a mess, Come in, sit down, converse. It doesn't always look like this: Some days it's even worse. A messy kitchen is a happy kitchen, and this kitchen is delirious. A balanced diet is a cookie in each hand! Thou shalt not weigh more than thy refrigerator. Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves for they shall never cease to be amused. Countless number of people have eaten in this kitchen and gone on to lead normal lives. My next house will have no kitchen ... just vending machines. I'd live life in the fast lane, but I am married to a speed bump.
Kitchen floor cold? cost effective solution.? the reason my kitchen floor is so cold is that I have a large crawl space that is under the kitchen. I was thinking about vapor barrier maybe between support and rafter beams. I am open to any and all suggestions. The crawl space is also in basement and my kitchen is at ground level. looking for solution that is cost effective. (i.e. not heating the crawl space.)
Kitchen Cabinets and Water Damage? My kitchen and living room got flooded while I was out of town for 2 days. The insurance doesnt want to pay for new kitchen cabinets, they claim they will be fine since they went through a drying process. I believe this will become an issue after a few months with potential mold and the cabinets becoming warped. My question is, what type of affect did this whole deal have on the integrity of my cabinets? Are they going to be junk, or will they be fine? Note, the water damage was so severe all the subfloor in the kitchen and half of it in the living room must be replaced.
Kitchen set for a 3 year old litlle BOY for christmas?? I seriously don't even know what to get my child for Christmas. He has named off a couple of small things but I wanted to get him something big from "Santa Claus". He is so fascinated with those little play kitchen sets, you know the one for little girls. I found one at Wal-Mart but I am so unsure whether or not I should get it. Does it seem right for little boys to play with kitchen stuff and tea sets? That is what I was needing the opinion about. There is one over at his Grandmas house, it is very old and it belonged to both of my older neices. I dont see anything wrong with him playing with one. What do yall think? What it be GAY to buy a little boy a kitchen set if he likes to play with one?
Kitchen Signs? 1. Dinner will be ready when the smoke alarm goes off. 2. No husband has ever been shot while doing the dishes. 3. If, we are what we eat, then I'm easy, fast, and cheap. 4. A balanced diet is a cookie in each hand. 5. Thou shall not weigh more than thy refrigerator. 6. A clean house is a sign of a misspent life. 7. Help keep the kitchen clean --->>> eat out. 8. Housework done properly can kill you. 9. Countless number of people have eaten in this kitchen and gone on to lead normal lives. 10. My next house will have no kitchen ----just vending machines

Kitchen Backsplash? I am installing a backsplash in my kitchen, and I have chosen to insert accent tiles along with the regular tiles. The accent tiles are pretty pricey ($12 for a single 4x4 inch piece). I am wondering how many accent tiles would look appropriate for my kitchen http://ca.360.yahoo.com/patelh9 (photo of kitchen on top right of page) Thanks in advance for all your help :)
Wanting to add Kitchen/Bar drain to finished basement? I am in the planning and layout stage of finishing my basement. The basement is roughed in for a bathroom and I am going to put in a full bath in and I am also wanting to put in a seperate bar/kitchen area in a seperate part of the basement away from the bathroom. I will be installing a kitchen sink with drain and supply lines in the bar/kitchen. Can I vent this bar/kitchen sink through the vent stack that is going to be venting the same drain lines in the bathroom? I know that I will have to run quite a bit of vent line to meet this since it is going to be far away from the source. Is this the easiest way to vent the kitchen/bar sink? I wonder if this is code compliant? Thanks
Kitchen floor plan- help? I am trying to decide in my about 16 ft 9 in x 11 ft 4 in kitchen what to do on one 11 wall there is a 6 ft slider door directly across there is a basement and garage door there is currently an island separating the eating and kitchen areas and both areas are a bit too small for what they are intended what I am considering is making the whole space(11 4x 16 9) kitchen and putting a eat around island with bar stools similar to a chair and putting cupboards on all wall space, then basically I would just be using the island as a table as well instead of having a separate table and island and would also gain more cupboard space and more walk way, I would keep a triangle for cooking washing etc just enlarge it and would have a foot to foot and a half bumpout on island for leg room what do you think? the sliders go to a covered patio that will be refinished into a dining room come spring of 2009 we have a booster chair, high chair and two adults in reg chairs and another baby on the way
Kitchen/Living Room share a wall..what color to use? I have beige countertops & medium to dark brown cabinets. My vinyl floor is also a medium to dark brown color. My appliances are white & black. Three of my walls are red & one beige. The beige wall is on the side w/ the breakfast nook & this wall continues into the living room...so I have one long wall. The red paint in the kitchen is glossy & the shine from this paint is making the beige wall in the breakfast nook look pink. I thought about painting the living room & kitchen 1 color (a different shade of cream or beige) 2 tie them together or maybe the three red walls one color & the the long breakfast nook/living room wall (and the other walls in the living room) a lighter shade of the same color. I would like to keep the red but maybe just as an accent color. I don't know what color would look good w/ the beige countertops in the kitchen (if I use a shade of beige). BTW, I don't do green! Any suggestions?
Kitchen & Family room paint? hi everybody we are planning on painting our family room & kitchen. in kitchen we have cinnamon cherry cabinets, brown tiles & brownish back splash. corian counter top has black, brown, grey & white in it but black is the dominant color. we are thinking we may need a light color as everything else is dark. we'll appreciate if you can throw some ideas around. so far we're leaning a little toward light brown in kitchen & family room, dark brown or maroonish on family room niche and on arches that lead to master bed & 2nd bedroom. you can see the pictures at http://community.webshots.com/album/561422598QctESi i was initially thinking about green as i like brown & green combination. our exterior is green and doors are dark brown. but i'm not sure if green will go with cinnamon cherry. appliances are stainless steel. appreciate your help guys, thank you so much for all your help. catherine, the colors you suggested are very similar to what we had in our mind. let me know what you all think about this: option 1: kahlua & cream in kitchen, arizona tan in family room and earthly russett on the arch walls that lead to master bed & 2nd bed and on the family room niche. option 2: dump kahlua & cream all together and paint family & kitchen with arizona tan yowza, i like the first link to hgtv that you sent. dawnb, if you get a chance, can you pls suggest me a shade of green from one of these color web sites ? we tried putting few swatches but didn't work.

Kitchen and room decorating ideas.? We need to do Something with our kitchen and dinning area. We haven't really done anything with it since we moved in. Its pretty much empty except the things we need to cook and some boxes still stacked where the table should be :( We don't have a table yet. But we're thinking of buying this set http://www.kmart.com/shc/s/p_10151_10104_021C123458150000B?vName=For+the+Home&cName=Furniture+%26+Storage Originally i was wanting a set exactly like this but with white and a lighter wood on top, but haven't been able to find it anywhere. I like the black set but, i think it adds more to think about when decorating and picking colors.. I don't want the kitchen to seem too dark. Right now the cabinets and trim in the kitchen are kinda dark wood. but my boyfriend said he doesn't care if we paint the cabinets since they will need to be replaced at some point (not now but maybe next year or the year after) But hes not sure if we should paint the trim and doors. (cont.) Our counter tops are a light grey/blue laminate, the floors are sorta white/grey colored laminate tiles, which we might replace sometime also, but not for awhile. I really need some suggestions or ideas.. Pictures would be really helpful, or some good websites to look at. Thanks!
Kitchen Decorating (paint) help!? We live in an apartment complex that has as it's kitchen whitish/grey lanolium floors, Light brown cabinets, white countertops, and white stove/dishwasher/stove light. Our complex will paint our walls whatever color we want so we are trying to figure out a color. White clashes because of all the white in the kitchen. What would be a good color to paint the kitchen that will go with all the white (including the white trim) and also not clash with the brown cabinets?? Send pictures if you have them, or can find any online. Thanks!
kitchen remodel - pass through to living room? we are about to remodel our kitchen and contemplating cutting out a small section of the wall so we can have a pass through bewteen the kitchen & living room (so we can see from the kitchen to living room - actually all the way to the back yard - and let more sunlight into living room). The wall we want to cut through is a supporting wall. What is necessary (in Florida) to put a small pass thru in a supporting wall? I've been told that it's doable to cut a small hole in a supporting wall - there are just extra steps to take?? I appreciate any advice you can give (other than go to home depot/lowes). thanks!
Kitchen paint color scheme - interior decorating/design question HELP!? Help! My kitchen needs a makeover! Here's what has to stay - the floor has a marbled look to it - it is mostly white but has blueish gray in it, the cabinets are a beautiful dark wood to match the rest of the trim in our home, and the countertop is pale blue. The kitchen is quite small, and sort of dark because of all of the dark wood cabinets, but I am not willing to paint the cabinets. I consider myself to be good at interior design, but I am just stumped because of the high contrast between the pale blue countertop and the dark cabinets. I love the floor, but hate the countertop. I know you can buy paint to paint the counter, but I am too scared to do that. I would consider having someone put new laminate on the countertop, but I have no idea how much this would cost or who (a store?) you would go to to ask about this. Another problem I have is that there is a LOT of trim in our kitchen. This means I have to decide on two colors instead of one. Currently the kitchen is the same as it was when we moved in last year - I've done the rest of the house but am stumped on the kitchen. Right now the walls are sort of a pale greenish blue and the trim is sort of a light evergreen, and there is flowerish border around to tie all the blues/greens/beiges together. It certainly doesn't look bad, but its just kind of "blah" and doesn't do anything for me. It doesn't reflect my style or the fact that I'm 24 and really into interior design. I'm also scared to pair the blue with yellow because of it looking too country-ish. Please help! One more thing - my living room is off the kitchen, but through a doorway, and it is done in monochromatic shades of the aquaish color that's so hot right now - if anyone is familiar with Pier 1, its the color that they have a lot of pieces and curtains in. If I stick with blue or green in the kitchen, won't this clash with the aqua in the livingroom? Many are suggesting painting an accent wall another color - my kitchen is sort of circular with cabinets all around - there is no ceiling to floor wall in the whole kitchen without cabinets or the bar against it.
Kitchen flooring? we are thinking about replacing our almost white carpet (which is now gray from baby formula stains and footprints) with laminate... but cant decide if we should cut it off at the kitchen or not. right now kitchen is vinyl. lowes guy reccommended not doing laminate in the kitchen and tile instead. what do you think?
